Widescreen uses a custom Metal shader to curve your video in real time, turning your iPhone screen into a grand curved cinema display. Dial in the exact curvature and seat position you want, switch on the audience silhouette mode for full immersion, and switch between multi-language audio and subtitle tracks on the fly. Plays MP4, MOV, AVI, TS, and more — no conversion needed.
A custom Metal shader curves each video frame in real time at 60 fps, recreating the look of a classic curved widescreen cinema. Curvature is adjustable from flat all the way to extreme Cinerama-style — with a slider for every shade in between.
Slide from the front row to the back row to change how the screen fills your view. The audience silhouette size and opacity update live as you adjust, making every position feel distinct and convincing.
Toggle audience silhouettes on from the settings panel to place a crowd in front of you. Silhouette opacity shifts with seat distance, giving the front-row and back-row experiences their own distinct feel.
Videos with embedded multi-language audio or subtitle tracks are fully supported. Tap the icons in the top bar during playback to switch instantly. Forced subtitles are automatically excluded from the subtitle list.
The Metal rendering pipeline fetches video frames directly from AVPlayer and runs them through a custom curved-screen vertex and fragment shader at 60 fps. Four named presets — Slight, Moderate, Cinerama, and Extreme — are available alongside a continuous slider for fine-tuning. Curvature can be toggled off with a single tap.
Moving the seat-distance slider changes both the apparent scale of the screen and the opacity of the audience silhouettes in real time. All settings are persisted to UserDefaults and restored on the next launch, so your personal configuration is always ready.
Enabling Audience Mode places rendered audience silhouettes at the bottom of the screen. Their transparency is tied directly to the seat-distance value, so front-row and back-row positions each produce a naturally different level of presence.
For videos with multiple embedded tracks, tapping the waveform or caption icon in the top bar opens a compact popover listing all available options. The currently active track is marked with a checkmark. Forced subtitle tracks are automatically filtered out to keep the list clean.
Tap the folder icon to open the iOS file picker and select any compatible video. MP4, MOV, AVI, and other major formats load directly — no conversion or transfer needed.
Use the settings sliders to set curvature and seat position to your liking. Turn on Audience Mode to complete the theater atmosphere. All settings are saved automatically.
Play, pause, and seek with simple taps. Switch audio or subtitle tracks mid-playback from the top bar. Upgrade to Premium for ad-free playback and full access to all features.
