See Where a Photo Was Taken on a Map

Select any photo from your library and its GPS coordinates are displayed as a pin on an interactive map. Instantly see whether a photo has location data embedded before you share it — no guessing required.

Remove GPS Data with One Tap

Tap the "Remove GPS Data" button and PhotoSafeGuard strips the location metadata from the photo. A clean copy is saved to a dedicated album — the original stays untouched in your library, so you never lose anything.

Clean Copies Saved to a Dedicated Album

Every photo with GPS removed is saved to the "NoGPS Photos" album automatically. When you need a location-safe photo to post or send, just open that album — no hunting through your full library.

View EXIF Metadata for Photos Without GPS

When a selected photo has no GPS data, PhotoSafeGuard displays its other EXIF metadata — capture date, camera model, ISO, shutter speed, and more — so you can see exactly what information remains in the file.

Select a photo. See exactly where it was taken.

Choosing a photo from your library triggers an instant GPS lookup. If location data is present, the shooting location appears as a red pin on a live map. You can see the precise spot where the photo was taken before deciding whether to share it. Photos without GPS show a clear "no location data" indicator instead — nothing is hidden.

CHECK
REMOVE

One button removes the GPS. The original stays safe.

Tapping "Remove GPS Data" creates a new copy of the photo with the GPS dictionary stripped from its EXIF metadata. All other image data — pixels, capture date, camera settings — is preserved exactly as-is. The original photo remains in your library, untouched. Everything happens on-device; nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Location-clean photos land in their own album.

Every cleaned photo is automatically added to the "NoGPS Photos" album in your photo library. That gives you a ready-made collection of safe-to-share photos. Post from the album directly, or pick files from it when sharing via Messages, email, or social media — no need to remember which copies have been processed.

SAVE
SAFE

Your current location on the map — even without a photo.

When no photo is selected, PhotoSafeGuard displays your current device location on the map. Location permission is requested transparently on first launch, and the app works normally whether or not you grant it. Privacy is built into every layer of the design — not bolted on as an afterthought.

Select. Check. Remove.
Your photo's location gone in seconds.

Three Steps to Share a Location-Free Photo

1
Select a Photo from Your Library

Tap the "+" button in the top-left corner to open your photo library. Select the photo you want to check. If it contains GPS data, the shooting location appears on the map immediately.

2
Tap "Remove GPS Data"

If the map shows a location pin, tap the "Remove GPS Data" button that appears at the bottom of the screen. PhotoSafeGuard strips the GPS metadata and saves a clean copy to the "NoGPS Photos" album.

3
Share the Clean Copy

Open the "NoGPS Photos" album to find your location-free photos. Post them to social media, send them to friends, or share them however you like — with no embedded location to worry about.

What Users Are Saying

— privacy_first_tanaka

"I share photos of my kids regularly but was nervous about GPS data being embedded. PhotoSafeGuard removes the location before I send anything, and it keeps the original safe too. That part really matters to me — nothing gets deleted."

— parent_user_sato

"I mainly use it to check which photos have location data before I decide what to share. The map view makes that instant. Clean and straightforward — exactly what I needed. The dedicated NoGPS album keeps everything organized too."

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions below.

QWill my original photo be deleted?

ANo. PhotoSafeGuard always saves a new copy with GPS removed to the "NoGPS Photos" album. Your original photo stays exactly where it is in your library — nothing is overwritten or deleted.
QWhat exactly gets removed from the photo?

AOnly the GPS location data embedded in the photo's EXIF metadata is removed — latitude, longitude, and related fields. All other information, including capture date, camera model, and image settings, is kept intact.
QHow does the app handle photo library permissions?

APhotoSafeGuard requests photo library access on first launch. If you deny access, a prompt guides you to the Settings app where you can grant it at any time. The app also supports the Limited Photos permission mode, so you can share only selected photos without opening your entire library.
QWhat happens if a photo doesn't have GPS data?

AIf the selected photo contains no GPS data, the map is not shown and a message indicates that no location information was found. The app will display available EXIF metadata — such as capture date and camera settings — so you can still see what information is stored in the file.
QDoes the app need an internet connection?

ANo. All GPS removal and saving happens entirely on your device. No internet connection is required, and your photos are never uploaded anywhere.
