Your photo. Your voice. One QR code.

PhotoQR encrypts your photos with AES-GCM and turns them into a QR code the recipient scans to receive them instantly. Attach a voice message up to 10 seconds long, strip location and timestamp metadata before sending, and set a view limit so the photo can only be seen a controlled number of times. No account registration required — just pick a photo, tap Convert, and share the QR code. The Send and Receive tabs keep everything simple on both sides.

Convert Photos to QR Codes for Sharing

Select a photo, tap the button, and a QR code is generated in seconds. Save it to your photo library or show it on screen — the recipient scans it with the PhotoQR app and receives the photo immediately. No account, no URLs to copy and paste.

Attach a Voice Message

Record a voice message up to 10 seconds and send it alongside the photo. A live waveform visualizer shows volume in real time while recording. After stopping, preview the recording and re-record if needed. The recipient plays it back with one tap.

AES-GCM Encryption and View Limits

Photos and audio are encrypted with AES-GCM before being stored in iCloud CloudKit — no third party can read the content. Free-tier QR codes allow one view; Premium allows up to 10. Metadata (location, timestamp) can be stripped before upload for full privacy.

Scan with Camera or Load from Library

The Receive tab opens the camera immediately for live QR scanning. If the QR code is saved as an image, load it from your photo library and the app reads it via Apple's Vision framework. Received photos save to your library with one tap.

Photo to QR Code in Three Steps

Open the Send tab, pick a photo from your library, optionally record a voice message, then tap "Convert to QR Code." The generated QR code appears on a card — tap the card to flip between the QR code and a preview of the original photo. The QR code image can be saved to your photo library with an instruction banner already printed on it, making it easy to send over any messaging app.

SEND
VOICE

Record, Preview, and Retake Voice Messages

Tapping "Add Voice Message" opens a dedicated recording sheet. While recording, a bar waveform animates in real time to show audio levels. Stop recording, then tap Preview to play it back. If you're not happy, tap Retake to start over; tap Done to confirm. Once a message is attached, the mic icon turns into a green checkmark so you always know it's included.

Encryption, Metadata Removal, and View Count Limits

Every photo and audio file is AES-GCM encrypted before it leaves your device and stored in iCloud CloudKit, so only someone with the correct QR code can decrypt and view it. Toggle "Remove Metadata" in Settings to strip GPS coordinates, capture timestamps, and other personal information before upload. View limits are enforced server-side: the free tier allows one view per QR code, Premium allows up to ten. Expired records are automatically deleted on app launch.

SECURITY
RECEIVE

Live Camera Scanning and Library Import

Open the Receive tab and the camera activates immediately, ready to scan. Point it at a QR code and the app detects and decrypts it automatically — no button press needed. If the QR code is stored as an image in your photo library, tap "Load from Photo Library" and Apple's Vision framework handles the detection. Once the photo loads, save it to your library in one tap. If a voice message was attached, a Play button appears below the photo.

3 Steps to Share a Photo

1
Pick a photo and generate a QR code

Open the Send tab, select a photo from your library, and optionally record a voice message. Tap "Convert to QR Code" and the QR is ready in seconds. Save it to your photo library or show it directly on screen for the recipient to scan.

2
Scan the QR code to receive

The recipient opens the Receive tab, points the camera at the QR code, and the photo appears instantly. They can also load a saved QR image from their photo library if scanning isn't convenient.

3
Save the photo and play the voice message

Tap "Save Photo to Library" to store the received photo with one tap. If a voice message was included, a Play button appears — tap it to listen. Tap "Next Scan" to go back and scan another code.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions below.

QWhere is my photo stored?

APhotos and audio are encrypted with AES-GCM and stored in iCloud CloudKit. No third party can read the content. All records are automatically deleted 24 hours after upload.
QDo I need to create an account?

ANo. Both the sender and recipient can use the app immediately after installing — no email address, no password, no registration of any kind.
QWhat's included in the free version vs. the Premium Plan?

AA 14-day free trial gives full access to all features. After the trial, the free version lets you send up to 2 photos per day with a 1-view limit per QR code. The Premium Plan (monthly subscription) provides 20 credits per day, up to 10 views per QR code, high-quality mode, and metadata removal.
QCan I send a photo without location data?

AYes. Toggle "Remove Metadata" on in Settings before sending. This strips GPS coordinates, capture timestamps, and other personal information from the photo before it is uploaded. This setting is part of the Premium Plan.
QIs there a limit on how many times a QR code can be viewed?

AYes. QR codes created on the free tier can be viewed once. Premium QR codes can be viewed up to 10 times. Once the limit is reached, the app shows a "View limit reached" message and the code can no longer be used to retrieve the photo.
