PhotoMotion turns any series of iPhone photos into a stop motion animation video. Import your shots, drag them into order, dial in the frame rate with a simple slider, and preview the result before saving. When you're happy with it, save the finished video directly to your photo library.
Select multiple photos from your iPhone photo library in one go and convert them into a stop motion animation. Drag photos to reorder them, swipe to delete individual shots, and use the "Remove All" button to start fresh whenever you need to.
A slider lets you set the playback speed anywhere from 1 to 30 frames per second. Push the FPS low for that classic choppy stop motion look, or crank it up for a smoother animation — the right setting depends entirely on your subject and style.
Check your animation in real time before committing to a save. Use play, pause, next frame, and previous frame controls to review each shot. Tweak the order or FPS until everything looks exactly the way you want it.
When you're done, the app encodes your animation as an H.264 video and saves it directly to your iPhone photo library. Saving is ad-supported, keeping the app free to use. The video is ready to share the moment it saves.
The edit screen lets you drag photos into whatever sequence works best for your animation. Build up a story, a transformation, or a loop — the order is entirely up to you. Swipe any frame to remove it, or tap "Remove All" to clear everything and start over from scratch.
Slide between 1 and 30 FPS and the preview updates instantly. A low frame rate gives you the classic, jerky stop motion effect. A higher rate smooths out the motion. Finding the sweet spot is half the fun — and there's no limit to how many times you can adjust it before saving.
Close the app mid-project and your imported photos will still be there when you reopen it. PhotoMotion stores the identifiers of your selected photos so you can pick up exactly where you left off, without re-importing anything. Take your time putting together the perfect sequence.
Tap the photo icon to import images, open the edit screen to arrange order and set FPS, preview the result with the playback controls, then tap Save and watch a short ad to export the video to your library. That's the whole workflow — nothing hidden, nothing complicated.
Tap the photo icon in the top-left corner and select the photos you want to animate from your library. You can import multiple photos at once — choose as many frames as your animation needs.
Tap the edit button in the top-right corner to open the edit screen. Drag photos into the sequence you want, then move the slider to set the playback speed in frames per second.
Back on the main screen, tap the play button to watch your animation at the current FPS setting. Use the frame-forward and frame-back buttons to step through individual shots and catch anything that needs adjusting.
"My kids and I use this to make clay stop motion videos on weekends. The interface is simple enough that they figured it out on their own — import the photos, drag them into order, hit play. Seeing their characters actually move when we're done is the best part."
"I've been using this to document how my plants grow over time. Importing a month's worth of photos and watching them play back as a smooth animation is genuinely satisfying. The FPS slider is a nice touch — I usually land somewhere around 8 to 10 for nature shots."
"What I like most is being able to experiment with the frame rate before committing to a save. Drop it to 3 FPS and it looks like classic old-school stop motion. Bump it to 20 and it's nearly smooth. Simple app, but it does exactly what it says."
