One-Click Formatting from the Toolbar

Bold, italic, strikethrough, inline code, headings (H1–H3), bulleted lists, numbered lists, task lists, blockquotes, links, images, and code blocks are all one click away in the toolbar. Apply formatting to selected text instantly — no need to remember Markdown syntax.

Switch Between Edit and Preview Instantly

Click the Edit or Preview button in the toolbar to switch between the raw Markdown editor and a fully rendered preview. Check your headings, bold text, lists, code blocks, and links exactly as they'll appear — then flip back to editing without breaking your flow.

Export to PDF and Print

Export your finished Markdown document as a PDF file or send it straight to the printer — all from the File menu. Heading levels, bold text, code blocks, and other formatting are preserved in the output, so the document is ready to share or archive the moment it's exported.

Open HTML Files as Markdown Automatically

MD Editor reads HTML files as well as Markdown files. Open any HTML file and the app automatically converts it to Markdown — headings, paragraphs, lists, links, images, tables, code blocks, and more. Repurpose existing HTML content in Markdown without any manual reformatting.

No Markdown Knowledge Required

The toolbar at the top of the editor covers everything: text decoration (bold, italic, strikethrough, inline code), headings (H1, H2, H3), lists (bulleted, numbered, task), blockquotes, links, images, and code blocks. Click a button and the Markdown syntax is inserted around your selected text automatically. Links and images come with a ready-to-edit template so you can fill in the details immediately.

TOOLBAR
PREVIEW

See Your Document as You Write It

The Edit and Preview buttons in the upper-right corner of the window let you flip between the raw Markdown source and a rendered view in an instant. The preview renders headings, bold text, bullet lists, numbered lists, code blocks, links, and more — so you always know exactly what the finished document looks like before you export.

From Document to PDF in One Step

Choose "Export as PDF" from the File menu and a save panel opens — pick a location and you're done. Print directly via the Print menu with no additional steps. The output preserves heading hierarchy, bold and italic text, code block styling, and other formatting, so the exported document is ready to hand off as-is.

EXPORT
CONVERT

Convert HTML to Markdown Automatically

Open any HTML file in MD Editor and it's automatically converted to clean Markdown. The converter handles headings (h1–h6), paragraphs, unordered and ordered lists, links, images, bold, italic, strikethrough, inline code, fenced code blocks with language tags, tables, and blockquotes. Script and style tags are stripped. The result is ready to edit immediately.

Open, write,
and export.

3 Steps to Get Started

1
Launch the app and open or create a document

MD Editor opens a new Markdown document on launch. You can also open an existing .md file or any HTML file — HTML files are converted to Markdown automatically when opened. The app supports multiple windows so you can work on several files at once.

2
Write using the toolbar and preview as you go

Use the toolbar buttons to apply formatting as you write. Click Preview at any time to see the rendered result, then click Edit to return to the source. You can also type Markdown directly — the toolbar and raw syntax work side by side.

3
Save, export to PDF, or print

Press ⌘S to save as a .md file. Choose "Export as PDF" from the File menu to convert and save as a PDF. Use the Print menu to print directly. Formatting is preserved in all output formats, so your document is ready to share the moment you're done.
