Premium users can set their chat background to one of 14 animated scenes — blue sky, starry night, cherry blossoms, ocean, autumn leaves, snow, fireworks, bubbles, rainbow, forest, sunset, thunderstorm, night sakura, or aurora. Or pick a solid color or your own photo. Default is the blue sky animation.

Launch the app, type a nickname, and tap Start — that's it. No account registration, no email address, no personal information required. The app immediately begins scanning for nearby devices and displays them in a list. Send an invitation, have the other person approve it, and you're connected. Your nickname can be changed at any time from Settings. From the moment you open the app to your first message takes less than a minute.

Tomodachi Chat supports multi-device group connections out of the box. When someone new joins, the app automatically forwards connection invitations to all currently connected members, building a mesh network where everyone can reach everyone else. You can see who's connected in the user management panel, and the disconnect button lets anyone leave cleanly at any time. No server, no coordinator — just direct device-to-device links.

Share Photos in the Moment (Premium)

Premium members can pick any image from their photo library and send it into the chat. A preview thumbnail confirms your selection before you hit send, and you can attach a text message at the same time. Received photos appear as tappable thumbnails in the message list — tap to open a full-screen viewer with pinch-to-zoom, pan, double-tap to reset, plus buttons to save to your camera roll or share via the system share sheet.
