Flip-Flop brings the classic reversi board game to iPhone with clean, intuitive gameplay. Play solo against a strategic AI that uses a weighted evaluation map to find the best move — corners worth 120 points, dangerous edge squares penalized — or challenge a friend in two-player mode on the same device. Simple enough to learn in seconds, deep enough to keep you thinking for years.
The computer uses a position evaluation map — corners scored at 120, dangerous adjacent squares penalized at −20 — to choose its best move every turn. A thinking indicator lets you know when the AI is deciding.
Pass the phone and play against a friend or family member on the same device. No extra hardware, no internet required — just pick up and play anywhere.
The full 64-square board is faithfully reproduced. Tap a square to place your piece and watch your opponent's pieces flip instantly. Rules are easy to learn, strategy runs deep.
Hit the Reset button to start a new game at any moment. Every game is a fresh tactical challenge — no two plays out quite the same way.
The computer evaluates every legal move using a weighted board map where corners are the highest-value positions (120 points) and the squares adjacent to corners carry a penalty (−20 points). This mirrors how expert players think, making the AI a genuine challenge. When the computer is deciding, a thinking indicator is shown so you always know whose turn it is.
Two-player mode lets you hand the phone back and forth to play against anyone nearby. No extra setup, no separate app, no Wi-Fi needed. Perfect for a quick game with a friend, family game night, or teaching someone the rules for the first time.
The header at the top of the game screen shows the current turn indicator — a filled circle in black or white — alongside the live piece count for both players. When the game ends, a clear alert announces the result: You Win, Computer Wins, or Draw.
If a player has no legal moves, their turn is skipped automatically. When neither player can move, the game ends and the winner is determined by piece count. All standard reversi rules are enforced so you can focus entirely on strategy.
From the home screen, tap Play vs. Computer to face the AI, or tap 2 Players to play against a friend on the same device. The game starts immediately.
On your turn, tap any valid square to place your piece. All of your opponent's pieces that are now flanked will flip to your color automatically. In vs. Computer mode, the AI takes its turn right after yours.
The game ends when the board is full or neither player can move. The player with more pieces wins. Tap Reset at any time to start a fresh game.
"The AI is a lot smarter than I expected. Once it grabs a corner it is nearly impossible to come back. I keep replaying to figure out how to stop it — great for strategy practice."
"I play this with my kids all the time. The two-player mode on one phone is perfect — no extra devices needed. The rules are simple enough that even young children pick it up quickly."
"Great for short sessions on my commute. One game fits perfectly in a few minutes and the AI gives enough of a challenge to keep it interesting. Clean and easy to use."
