BackLog is an iPhone task manager built around projects. Each project holds its own list of tasks — set a priority (high, medium, or low), a status (not started, in progress, or completed), and a deadline for every item. Overdue tasks surface automatically in red so nothing slips through. Data syncs across devices via iCloud, and a Premium subscription removes ads and lifts all limits.
Create as many projects as you need and keep each one's tasks separate. When every task in a project reaches "Completed" status, the project moves automatically to the Completed section — keeping your active work front and center without any manual filing.
Each task carries three attributes: priority (high, medium, low), status (not started, in progress, completed), and a deadline. Tasks sort automatically by priority within each status section, so the most urgent items always appear at the top. Overdue tasks turn red to catch your attention before it's too late.
All project and task data syncs through iCloud (CloudKit) automatically. Switch to a new iPhone and everything is restored the moment you sign in with the same Apple ID. No manual export, no extra setup — your backlog is always with you.
A monthly Premium subscription removes all banner ads from every screen and lifts the limits on how many projects and tasks you can create. Purchase restoration is supported — if you switch devices, tap "Restore Purchase" to recover your subscription.
The task list divides automatically into In Progress, Not Started, and Completed sections — in that order. Within each section, tasks sort by priority so high-priority items always appear first. Completed tasks display with a strikethrough to signal they're done without removing them from view. The layout stays organized without any manual sorting on your part.
A colored bar runs along the left edge of every active task — red for high priority, yellow for medium, gray for low. When a task's deadline passes without being completed, that bar and the deadline date both turn red. Status badges are color-coded too, so scanning the list for what's overdue or still in flight takes seconds rather than minutes.
Once every task in a project is marked completed, BackLog automatically moves the project to the Completed section at the bottom of the project list. Your active projects stay clean and visible without any archiving step from you. If you delete a project, all its tasks are removed along with it — a confirmation dialog appears before anything is deleted.
Tap "Add Project" to create a project, tap the project to open its task list, tap "Add Task" to log an issue with title, priority, status, and deadline, then tap any task to edit details or update its status. That's the full workflow — no tutorial required, no account to create.
Tap the "Add Project" button at the bottom of the project list. Enter a project name and optional remarks. Separate projects by work, personal tasks, side projects — however you want to organize your work.
Tap any project to open its task list, then tap "Add Task." Enter a task title, note, status, priority, and deadline. The task appears in the appropriate status section immediately.
Tap a task to open the edit screen. Use the status segmented control to move it from Not Started to In Progress to Completed. Marking a task Completed records the completion date automatically. Tap Save to confirm.
"I run several work projects simultaneously and BackLog is the cleanest way I've found to keep them separate. The overdue task highlighting in red is genuinely useful — deadlines used to slip past me all the time. iCloud sync means my iPad and iPhone always show the same data without me doing anything."
"Having high-priority tasks automatically sort to the top of each section is exactly what I needed. I open the app, see what's most urgent, and get to work. The automatic project completion when all tasks are done gives a satisfying sense of closure that keeps me motivated."
"Simple interface, does the job well. I subscribed to Premium to get rid of the ads and it's been a much cleaner experience. If you're looking for a straightforward project and task tracker without a steep learning curve, this is the one."
