AirHockey - Retro Table Sports brings the arcade classic to your iPhone. Drag your finger to move the mallet, slam the puck into the opponent's goal, and race to 7 points before the AI does. With worn-table visuals, dynamic physics, and arcade-style sound effects, every match feels like stepping up to a real air hockey table. The countdown starts — are you ready?
Just drag your finger and the mallet follows. No buttons, no menus — pure direct control. Flick fast to put power behind your shot, or play it steady to defend your goal.
The AI defends its home position, intercepts incoming pucks, and switches to offense when the puck stalls in its territory. It adapts to the situation, keeping every match challenging.
Every goal adds to the score. The first player to reach 7 points wins the match. After the game ends, everything resets automatically so you can jump straight into a rematch.
Scratches, faded surfaces, rounded goal posts, a glowing puck, and richly shaded mallets — every visual detail is crafted to recreate the feel of a well-worn arcade air hockey table.
The bottom half of the screen is your play area. Drag anywhere in your half and the mallet responds instantly. Movement is restricted to your side of the table, so positioning matters — you need to balance attacking and defending. Near the goal walls, the mallet's range narrows, making close-quarters play more intense.
The AI opponent isn't just moving randomly. It holds a defensive home position and only moves to intercept when the puck enters its zone. But if the puck stalls in the AI's half for more than two seconds, it activates an aggressive mode and charges toward the puck. Stay alert — passive play will be punished.
Collisions between the puck and mallet are handled with physics-based calculations. A fast mallet swing increases the restitution coefficient, resulting in a harder hit. Sound effects fire on every wall bounce, puck strike, goal, and countdown beat — giving each moment the satisfying crunch of a real arcade cabinet.
The table surface uses canvas-drawn scratches and gradient shading to simulate wear and age. Goal walls feature rounded corners and a layered texture with subtle highlights and micro-scratches. The puck uses a radial gradient, and each mallet is rendered with concentric circles to give a three-dimensional look — all combining to nail the retro arcade aesthetic.
Tap the "START" button on the main screen to begin the countdown from 3. Your paddle and the opponent's paddle reset to their starting positions, and the puck is placed at the center of the table.
When the countdown ends, the puck launches toward one of the players. Drag your finger in the bottom half of the screen to move your mallet. Hit the puck to send it toward the AI's goal — and watch out for the return shot.
Each goal triggers a "GOAL!" flash and updates the score. The first to reach 7 points wins, showing "YOU WIN" or "YOU LOSE" on screen. After a short pause, the game resets and you're ready for the next match.
"Picked this up during a commute and couldn't put it down. Simple controls, but the AI actually keeps you on your toes. The worn-table look is a nice touch — feels like the real thing."
"Perfect for quick sessions. Each match is short but surprisingly intense. The sound when the puck hits the mallet is so satisfying. Highly recommend if you like classic arcade games."
"I wasn't expecting much but the physics feel genuinely solid. The AI goes into attack mode when you leave the puck sitting — caught me off guard the first few times. Great little game."
